Team Types

Intel® PROSet enables you to configure the following teams:

Adapter Fault Tolerance (AFT)
Switch Fault Tolerance (SFT)
Adaptive Load Balancing (ALB), including Receive Load Balancing (RLB)
IEEE 802.3ad: Dynamic Link Aggregation
Fast EtherChannel(FEC)* /802.3ad: Static Link Aggregation
GEC*/802.3ad: Static Link Aggregation

Adapter Fault Tolerance

Features	Failover - provides automatic redundancy for your adapter. If the primary adapter fails, the secondary takes over.
Network configuration	All adapters must be connected to the same switch Spanning Tree Protocol must be disabled All types of switches are supported

Switch Fault Tolerance

Features	Failover between switches
Network configuration	Each adapter must be connected to a different switch Spanning Tree Protocol must be enabled All types of switches are supported

Adaptive Load Balancing

Features	Failover Transmit and Receive Load Balancing
Network configuration	All adapters must be connected to the same switch All types of switches are supported

IEEE 802.3ad: Dynamic Link Aggregation

Features	Failover Transmit Load Balancing Receive Load Balancing
Network configuration	Team members can operate at different speeds All adapters must be connected to the same switch The switch connected to the adapters must fully support the IEEE 802.3ad standard

Fast EtherChannel (FEC)/802.3ad: Static Link Aggregation

Features	Failover Transmit Load Balancing Receive Load Balancing
Network configuration	All adapters must run at 100MBs All adapters must be connected to the same switch Must be used with a switch capable of handling Link Aggregation: Cisco FEC capable switches using the PAgP protocol Intel Express® switches capable of Link Aggregation Other switches capable of static 802.3ad

GEC/802.3ad: Static Link Aggregation

Features	Failover Transmit Load Balancing Receive Load Balancing
Network configuration	All adapters must run at 1000 MBs All adapters must be connected to the same switch Must be used with a switch capable of handling Link Aggregation: Cisco GEC capable switches using the PAgP protocol Intel Express switches capable of Link Aggregation Other switches capable of static 802.3ad
